In the village of Melmalayanur, Gingee taluk, more than 50 Arundhathiyar families faced the disheartening challenge of not having a proper path to the cemetery. Moved by the community’s struggle, Mrs. Thilagam, a devoted Community Leader of Palavai centre, took it upon herself to advocate for change.

Determined to address the issue, she submitted numerous petitions to local authorities, emphasizing the emotional and practical hardships faced by the families. Her relentless efforts bore fruit when, in March 2023, the authorities identified a suitable location for the path. This success not only met a critical need but also restored dignity to the community’s traditions.

Mrs. Thilagam’s unwavering determination has inspired hope among the Arundhathiyar families. The promised construction of a cement road further demonstrates the transformative power of her leadership.
