First Interdistrict Women Federation at PALAVAI

In a groundbreaking step toward empowering women entrepreneurs, PALAVAI facilitated the establishment of the First Interdistrict Women Federation on October 6, 2024, at Singanur. This historic event brought together 110 women from different districts, united by the shared goal of fostering leadership, advocacy, and collective growth.

The election for the General Body of the Women’s Federation marked the highlight of the event, with active participation and transparent processes. Ms. Sowrnalatha, Director of ASSET, and Mrs. Nagasundhari, an experienced federation leader from Chengalpattu, provided invaluable support and guidance during the elections.

The newly elected leaders underwent a training session to understand the legal responsibilities and functions of the federation. This included an orientation on conducting general body meetings, decision-making processes, and advocacy strategies.

The participants expressed their joy and optimism about this initiative, with one member stating, “This feels like a new dawn for us.” This federation is expected to be a catalyst for women’s empowerment, enabling them to advocate for their rights and contribute to the socio-economic development of their communities.
