Capacity Building Program for Overseas Migrant Workers

The Jesuit Migrants Ministry External (JMMEx) organized a Capacity Building Program on October 25, 2024, at Vadalur. The event, attended by 23 beneficiaries including MSHG leaders and volunteers from Cuddalore District, aimed to educate participants on the importance of creating a federation for overseas migrant workers.

Led by Fr. Director, Fr. Assistant Director, and JMMEx staff members (Mr. Stephen, Mrs. Kalaiselvi, Mr. Siva, and Mr. Aravind), the program focused on identifying and electing dynamic leaders and representatives to lead the proposed federation. Through group discussions, participants shared their challenges and reflected on the positive impact of JMMEx’s interventions.

The group discussions revealed proactive individuals who were later elected as federation representatives. Participants expressed gratitude for JMMEx’s continuous guidance and support, emphasizing the significance of the initiative in improving their lives.

The program was a learning experience for the JMMEx team, who utilized innovative methods like games, debates, and group activities to identify capable leaders. This event marked a step forward in empowering migrant workers to advocate for their rights and build a strong community network.
