Awareness Programme on Child Helpline by PARAN

The PARAN Tribal Centre in Makkampalayam organized a two-day awareness programme on December 13 and 14, 2024, to educate the Evening Study Centre (ESC) educators about the National Child Helpline 1098. A total of 50 ESC educators, representing the Urali and Solagar tribes, actively participated in this significant campaign.
The programme addressed critical issues prevalent in these tribal settlements, such as child marriage and school dropouts. With the help of expert trainers, the participants were sensitized to the importance of identifying and reporting child rights violations. They also gained practical knowledge on how to use the 1098 helpline effectively to intervene in situations of child abuse, exploitation, and neglect.
The sessions were interactive, featuring real-life case studies, group discussions, and role-playing activities to deepen the educators’ understanding. This initiative aims to empower the educators to act as change agents within their communities, ensuring the safety, education, and well-being of tribal children.
