Training of Trainers Program for the Paliyar Community

SWTN and AKAM jointly organised a Training of Trainers (TOT) programme for the Paliyar community on November 24th and 25th. On the first day, Mr. Christodas Gandhi, IAS (Retd.), guided 25 Paliyar representatives on various government welfare schemes available for tribal communities and clearly explained the required procedures to access these benefits. The following day, approximately 20 representatives, accompanied by SWTN staff members, met with Mr. Annadurai, Director of Tribal Welfare. The representatives formally submitted a request for the establishment of an Anganwadi centre in their locality. In response, Mr. Annadurai explained the official procedures and advised the community to explore educational and employment opportunities outside their villages for broader development. The representatives concluded their visit at the SWTN office, where Rev. Fr. Irudayaraj SJ introduced the organisation’s mission and activities, ensuring they gained a deeper understanding of SWTN’s role.
