PARAN Health Centers Bring Vital Care to Remote Tribal Communities
Living in the hills presents a unique set of challenges, particularly when it comes to accessing healthcare. For the tribal communities, who already face the hardships of social exclusion and poverty, these challenges are magnified. Recognizing this dire need, PARAN set up first-aid health centres in the remote villages of Makkampalayam and Arihiyam to address the healthcare needs of the tribal people.
These centres, staffed with professionally trained nurses and equipped with essential medical instruments, cater to the health needs of seven surrounding villages. They provide free medicines, especially to children and the elderly, who are most vulnerable. For more severe health conditions, patients are promptly referred to nearby government hospitals, with PARAN staff accompanying them to ensure smooth admissions and swift treatment.
To ensure quality care, the nurses undergo annual training under the guidance of a professional medical practitioner, keeping them updated on the latest medical practices and advancements in pharmaceutical treatments. The health centres not only offer immediate relief for basic health issues but also ensure that patients receive the comprehensive care they need for more serious conditions. Through this initiative, PARAN has significantly improved access to healthcare for the tribal communities, offering hope and relief to those who had previously struggled to obtain even basic medical attention.
