Convention of Traditional Artists at PALAVAI

PALAVAI organized a Convention of Traditional Artists on Sunday, October 20, 2024, bringing together eight Irular traditional artists. The event, led by Fr. Antony Anandh (Programme Director) along with staff members Mr. Pasupathi and Mr. Maari, aimed to explore Irular traditional art forms, address challenges faced by the artists, and foster collaboration with the PALAVAI organization.

The gathering provided a platform for the artists to share their experiences, build connections, and discuss ways to protect and promote their cultural heritage. Participants expressed their interest in collaborating with PALAVAI, contributing as trainers for the PALAVAI cultural troupe, and participating in the upcoming cultural fest organized by the CEN Province.

Through the discussions, PALAVAI gained valuable insights into the challenges these artists face and recognized the importance of organizing them into a union to preserve and promote traditional art forms. This event laid the groundwork for stronger partnerships and efforts to safeguard the rich cultural heritage of the Irular community.
