Seed Capital Support Strengthened Women’s Micro-Enterprises

With a focus on promoting women’s entrepreneurship and financial self-reliance, the Arcali Centre conducted a Seed Capital Distribution Ceremony on 8 October 2025 under its microfinance initiative. A total of ₹2,00,000 was distributed to 20 in-land fisherfolk women entrepreneurs selected from five villages. The women were chosen based on proposals to start or expand small businesses such as palm-leaf work, saree and garment sales, and tender coconut vending.

The programme aimed to promote economic independence through a community managed revolving fund. Each beneficiary committed to repaying ₹1,000 per month, ensuring that the fund could continue to support more women in other villages. The seed capital provided a vital boost for the women to strengthen and formalize their micro-enterprises, helping them move toward sustainable livelihoods.
