Tree Plantation Drive for Human Rights Day by PARAN

December 10, 20248:00 am

On December 10, 2024, the PARAN team commemorated Human Rights Day by organizing a tree plantation drive across various clusters. This event aimed to address pressing global issues such as climate change and plastic pollution while emphasizing the human right to a clean and sustainable environment.

The drive primarily targeted MGNREGA (Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act) workers, community leaders, and CCFF (Climate Change Fighting Force) group members. At the Kanakunthur cluster, over 100 workers, including CCFF members, actively participated in the awareness sessions.

The programme began with a discussion on the adverse effects of climate change and the need to adopt eco-friendly practices. The PARAN team distributed saplings to the participants, encouraging them to take personal responsibility for nurturing the trees. Additionally, the campaign stressed the importance of reducing plastic use and adopting sustainable alternatives.

By combining awareness with action, the PARAN team reinforced the interconnectedness of environmental conservation and human rights, inspiring the community to take tangible steps toward a greener future.
